Regional titles nominated for first time at national media awards

BMAA set of new regional categories has been introduced for the first time in this year’s annual British Media Awards.

New categories have been announced specifically to cater for the regional media industry – including Regional Media Brand of the Year, Regional Media Company of the Year, Regional Editorial Content Team of the Year and Regional Marketing Team of the Year.

Among the nominees for the regional media brand award are Trinity Mirror titles Cornwall Live, the Liverpool Echo and the Manchester Evening News.

The Echo and MEN are also up for the editorial content team prize, along with the Eastern Daily Press and Newcastle-based NCJ Media, while Press & Journal and Dundee Courier owner DC Thomson is in the mix for the regional publisher of the year prize.

Gideon Spanier, head of media at awards organiser Campaign, said: “These awards matter because they recognise the media owners and companies that are innovating and adapting at a time of unprecedented change in media.

“The British Media Awards reward excellence in every area – from commercial to editorial, from digital to print, from advertising to subscriptions. And with the introduction of regional and international categories, the British Media Awards are bigger than ever before.”
