Regional publisher’s farming magazine celebrates 125 years in print

A regional publisher’s magazine for working farmers has celebrated its 125th anniversary.

The Scottish Farmer, which is published by the Newsquest-owned Herald and Times Group, has marked the milestone with a special edition featuring a celebratory masthead.

The special edition included a commemorative feature providing a taster of the evolution of magazine, as well as the traditional Show & Sale Guide which provides a comprehensive list of all the local and national shows for the year ahead.

The magazine is thought to be one of the oldest farming publications in the world.

Scottish 125

Magazine Publisher Darren Bruce said: “2017 was a defining year of change for the industry and equally too for everyone here at The Scottish Farmer as we invested into our title and its infrastructure.

“To this day the team are all as passionate as our predecessors were 125 years ago and we look forward to many more years of unrivalled content, new feature activity and the best in agricultural reporting and photography.”

Editor Ken Fletcher added: “The Scottish Farmer acts as a publication of record for the Scottish farming industry.

“Through the last decade the print publication has become part of a multi-media environment, as is supported with an informative award-winning website, which offers a variety of modern packages including news and e-edition apps to fit with our reader’s needs.”
