Regional news website launches bid to find patch’s 50 greatest women

A regional news website has launched a search to find the 50 greatest women from its patch.

Gloucestershire Live is asking readers to nominate the 50 greatest Gloucestershire women ahead of International Women’s Day on 8 March.

The final 50 will be unveiled on the Trinity Mirror-owned site as well as in a special edition of GL Weekend magazine, which comes free with Gloucester weekly The Citizen and the Gloucestershire Echo.

The list of the 50 names will also be engraved on a plaque which will be unveiled at Cheltenham Racecourse next month.

The campaign is being run with the racecourse, which holds its Ladies Day on 14 March.

Gloucestershire Live editor Jenny Eastwood said: “We are so excited to be working with Cheltenham Racecourse Ladies Day on our 50 Greatest Gloucestershire Women campaign.

“As well as nominations from the public, we will also be thinking of inspiring women who deserve recognition within this list. The hardest part will be getting it down to just 50.”
