Reporter to abseil down tourist attraction for charity challenge

A regional daily journalist who claims he is “not good with heights” will be among the first people to abseil down a tourist attraction from 450ft in the air.

Joel Adams, local government reporter at Brighton daily The Argus, will undertake the challenge from the top of the i360 tower on Brighton seafront.

The i360 is the world’s tallest moving observation tower, and Joel hopes to raise £1,000 for children’s charity Rockinghorse by descending it.

The experience will be live-streamed to the Argus website from a camera strapped to Joel’s forehead.

He said: “We heard about this great charity event from the i360 and the editor asked whether anyone in the newsroom fancied actually doing it.

“I’ve never skydived or abseiled. And actually I’m not very good with heights. So, thinking about it, I’m not entirely sure why I volunteered.”

The abseil will take place on 17 March. To sponsor Joel, click here.

Anyway, just think if the Brighton Argus could get most of its 10,000 or readers to sponsor him what a boost it would be for the charity. Good luck with it.
By the way, the pic on HTFP home page needs to correct spelling of Brighton.

Thank you for publishing the sponsorship link. The money goes to buy x-ray machines for premature babies*, if anyone has a pound to spare. J.

*To x-ray the babies. Not for the babies to play with.
