PA announces location of new London headquarters

The Press Association has identified the location of its new HQ after announcing it is leaving its central London base.

The national news agency for the UK and Republic of Ireland is set to move from its present headquarters on Vauxhall Bridge Road, near Victoria Station, to The Point, Paddington, by the end of May 2019.

PA announced in July it would be leaving Vauxhall Bridge Road, where it has been based since 1995, for a new premises.

The agency has also announced it is set to rebrand as PA Media, while its parent PA Group will become PA Media Group.

Of the move to The Point, a spokeswoman said: “Subject to contract, we will take possession of office space on the third and ninth floors of the building in January next year. After completion of the fit out we expect to be fully moved in by the end of May 2019.

“Our move to new headquarters provides an opportune time to update PA’s branding to reflect the modern, dynamic business that we are. So to coincide with the move to our new building, our plan is to rebrand the Press Association as ‘PA Media’, while the parent PA Group will become ‘PA Media Group’.

“We have evolved a long way from our beginnings as a supplier of national news to the regional print media. Nor is the Press Association a membership organisation as the name suggests.

“As we look to the future of the broader Group, our new identity will unify the various PA-branded businesses and standalone companies offering a range of specialist media.”

What’s happening here is the subtle dumping of the word ‘Press’ – which tells me that the PA doesn’t think there will be a print industry worth speaking about in the not-too-distant future.
