A regional publisher has appointed an international journalist who runs an English-language news service in Luxembourg to edit a group of weekly newspapers.
Archant has confirmed Jim Robinson is set to take over as group editor of the company’s South-West titles, which include include the Weston Mercury, North Somerset Times, North Devon Gazette, Exmouth Journal, Sidmouth Herald and Midweek Herald.
Jim, left, has worked around the world for titles including the Financial Times and Investment Advertiser during his 20-year career, while more recently he founded the Luxembourg Times – an English-language news service for the tiny European country.
Jim, who replaces outgoing group editor Andy Keeble, will begin his new role on 3 December.
As Devon editor he will have day-to-day oversight of the Exmouth Journal, Sidmouth Herald, Midweek Herald and North Devon Gazette.
Andre, who began his new job last week, replaces Stefan Gordon who left during the summer.
Laura Adams, Archant content director for London, Kent, Herts & Cambs and Southwest Newspapers, announced the two appointments in a message to staff which has been seen by HTFP.
Said Laura: “I hope you will join me in welcoming both Jim and Andre to the South West team.
“I would like to take the opportunity to wish outgoing group editor Andy Keeble the very best as he leaves us for pastures new. Andy started his career as a trainee reporter on the North Devon Gazette and rose through the ranks to the role of group editor in which he played a key role in developing the content operations in the South-West.
“Similarly I would also like to recognise the hard work and commitment of former Devon editor Stefan Gordon who left the business during the summer. May I wish him the very best for the future.
“Finally, I would like to pass on my gratitude to the content teams who have managed brilliantly during this period of change and recruitment process. I have been hugely impressed by the unrelenting professionalism and commitment of the journalists and would like to thank you all personally for your efforts.”
