Entries are now open for next year’s edition of an awards scheme which aims to recognise excellence in newspaper production and content.

Entrants have until 1 February to apply for the newsawards 2019, which will be presented at a gala dinner on Wednesday 8 May at the Royal Lancaster London.

This year’s ceremony saw Aberdeen-based daily The Press & Journal win the Regional Daily Newspaper of the Year honour, while the Cambridge Independent won Weekly Newspaper of the Year for the second year running.

The Trinity Mirror Data Unit, which supplies pages for regional and local titles across the UK, also figured in the prizes, winning the International Printed Innovation award.
