Director rejoins regional publisher a year after moving to rival

Tom HarteA senior executive is set to return to a regional publisher after leaving last year to work for a rival company.

Tom Harte is to join Reach plc as commercial director for its Manchester and West Yorkshire regions, which includes daily newspapers the Huddersfield Daily Examiner and Manchester Evening News.

Tom previously worked for Reach’s forerunner Trinity Mirror between 2001 and May last year, when he left to become group digital director at the CN Group and subsequently Newsquest Cumbria, following the former’s purchase by the latter.

At Trinity Mirror, he held roles including advertisement director at the Examiner, regional advertisement director for the North West and North Wales, group sales director and group digital commercial director.

Tom, pictured, said: “It’s great to be part of a fantastic team working on iconic brands in my home region.”

The announcement of Tom’s appointment comes after MEN and Examiner managing director Paul O’Halloran left Reach after almost four years in the role.

The move has seen Carl Wood, the MD responsible for the Liverpool Echo, as well as Reach’s North West and North Wales titles, add the MEN and the Examiner to his portfolio.

Carl said: “Tom brings with him a wealth of senior commercial management experience and significant digital expertise and will be a great asset to our business.”
