Daily journalist teams up with fellow writers for football club history book

A regional daily journalist has teamed up with fellow writers and footballers for a book about the club he covers.

Yorkshire Evening Post chief football writer Phil Hay is among the contributers to ‘Tales From Elland Road Volume 1: Marching On Together’, which looks back at the history of Leeds United.

Phil and his fellow journalists, authors and broadcasters such as Anthony Clavane. Daniel Chapman and Adam Pope interviewed a number of former Leeds players for the book, edited by Times journalist Rick Broadbent.

Players involved include Eddie Gray, Mick Jones, Tony Dorigo, Brian Deane and Noel Whelan.

Leeds book

Summing up its contents, Rick said: “Leading lights and cult heroes reveal what it was like to win, lose, suffer and laugh for the cause.

“Shirts are burnt and punches are thrown but words are never minced in this funny, startling and very Leeds United set of stories.

“It is a book of blood, sweat and fish guts.”

Tales From Elland Road Volume 1: Marching On Together has been released by Tales From Publishing, priced £10 in paperback.
