A university’s journalism department is celebrating 40 years since its foundation.

City University’s journalism programme began as a postgraduate department in 1976, and alumni and staff are being invited to attend an event marking the milestone next month.

Speakers at the celebration include Sky News presenter Dermot Murnaghan, pictured above left, who graduated in 1984, and Sun editor Tony Gallagher, who graduated in 1986.

The celebration will be held at Drapers’ Hall, on Throgmorton Avenue, London, at 6.30pm on 9 February.

The price is £20 per person and include a buffet and a welcome drink. The dress code for the event is smart casual.
