Terror attack coverage features strongly in journalism award nominations

Journalists who covered the Manchester Arena terror attack are in line for honours at this year’s O2 Media Awards for the North West.

There are six individual and team award nominations for Manchester Evening News staff, including Best Daily Newspaper and Best On-Line journalism, following their coverage of the tragedy in May.

As well as the MEN, the Knutsford Guardian and Lancashire Post have been shortlisted in the Most Memorable (Print) category for their coverage of the attack.

Writers and photographers at the Liverpool Echo and North Wales Daily Post also feature strongly with a dozen nominations in total.

Nicola Green, Director of Corporate Affairs at O2 said: “The volume and standard of entries this year has been unprecedented. Judges had the monumental task of selecting a shortlist from hundreds of exceptional portfolios.

“We want to thank all those, who by entering the competition each year, continue to make an O2 Award so highly prized in the media industry. We look forward to announcing the best of the best at the awards night in Manchester.”
