Regional journalists invited to apply for NUJ Irish council seats

nujlogoNominations from regional journalists in Northern Ireland are being welcomed as the National Union of Journalists prepares to elect its new Irish Executive Council.

Four seats are available for members working at provincial newspapers across the whole of the island of Ireland, while one seat on the council is reserved for Northern Ireland itself.

Nominations for this seat are confined to members at the Northern Ireland branches.

Seats are allocated on the basis of membership per sector, while each branch may also nominate for the black members’ seat.

The new council will take office following the organisation’s biennial delegate conference on 18 November.

Nominations must be made at a properly constituted branch meeting and each nominee must be willing to accept the nomination.

Nomination forms must reach NUJ, 2nd Floor, Spencer House, Spencer Row, Off Store Street, Dublin 1, by 5pm on Friday 28 July.
