Regional daily marks football club’s final appearance with special stickers

A regional daily has produced special stickers to mark its local football club’s forthcoming trip to Wembley.

The Oxford Mail handed out the car stickers to supporters of Oxford United at the club’s home game against Scunthorpe United on Saturday in preparation for the EFL Trophy final against Coventry City, which will be held on 2 April.

Produced exclusively by the Mail and sponsored by the Liontrust, the club’s sponsor, the stickers will also be available from selected newsagents in the run-up to the game.

The newspaper unveiled the stickers on Friday’s front page.

The Mail is also producing a special glossy A3 poster, with a team shot, to support United as they aim to win the silverware.

In addition the sports team are producing a 20-page preview supplement, which will include supporters’ opinions on the competition.

Sports editor Mark Edwards said: “We’re delighted to be backing the U’s ahead of the Trophy final and this time we’re hoping for a Wembley win.

“It’s great that the fans can enjoy and look forward to another day under the arch. Let’s hope everyone displays their special stickers and posters with pride.”
