A local edition of a regional daily lauched five years ago following the closure of a weekly title is itself set to close in November.
The Midland News Association says it will publish the final edition of the Kidderminster Express & Star on 30 November.
The Kidderminster edition of the Wolverhampton-based daily was launched in 2012 after the MNA closed free weekly the Kidderminster Chronicle.
It has been distributed in the Worcestershire town for free once a week since its launch, following a model which the E&S had operated in Stafford since 2009.
The company says no redundancies are expected as a result of the change, but it is in discussions with one freelance journalist working on the edition.
The regular edition of the E&S will remain on sale in Kidderminster six days a week.
An MNA spokesman said: “Following a management review the final free Kidderminster edition of the Express & Star will be published on 30 November.
“The MNA is not pulling out of the area as the Express & Star will remain on sale in Kidderminster, six days a week.
“There are no redundancies expected and we are in discussions with a freelance journalist.
“The company is considering other print publications to better serve the Kidderminster area.”
Can’t even give it away.
