MEN produces supplement marking Manchester’s recovery from attack

A special supplement documenting Manchester’s recovery from the terrorist attack which killed 22 people has been produced by the Manchester Evening News.

The MEN’s ‘Spirit of Manchester’ publication is on sale now priced £1, with all proceeds going to its We Love Manchester Emergency Fund.

The 48-page edition focuses on the love and bravery shown by the people of Greater Manchester following the attack at the Manchester Arena on 22 May.

Tributes to each of the victims are included, as well as a copy of the Tony Walsh poem This is the Place which was recited at the Albert Square vigil held the day after the attack.

Spirit of Manc

A story advertising the publication reads: “In the days that followed the atrocity Mancunians displayed an incredible show of solidarity and togetherness.

“And the families of those killed in the attack said it was the support of the Manchester community that helped them cope with the tragedy.

“The Spirit of Manchester edition includes the kind gestures and response from all over the world, as well as images of the incredible floral tributes left in St Ann’s Square.”

So far the We Love Manchester fun has raised more than £10m for the families of the attack’s victims and those injured, while the paper’s coverage of the incident and its aftermath has been widely hailed as local journalism at its best.
