Ex-regional journalist’s guide to ‘saving the world’ re-released

Karen SheltonA former regional journalist has re-released a book featuring pieces by influential women.

Karen Eberhardt-Shelton, left, has produced A Women’s Guide to Saving the World, which features writings from journalist and campaigner Jemima Goldsmith, politician Clare Short, co-leader of the Green Party Caroline Lucas, author Jilly Cooper and dozens more.

Karen is originally from California, USA, but ended up working for the Stern Daily Press and Western Gazette after travelling the world.

The book was first released in 2008, but is now being re-released with a new publisher.

The works featured in the book follow Karen posing the question to its contributors: “If you could wave your magic wand, what would you do to make the world a better place?”

Said Karen: “I’ve spent so much time on this and I believe in it so much.

“To get all these women into the book… reading through some of the pieces I just go ‘Oh my God’. I think it’s extraordinary.

“I didn’t tell anybody what to write, I just said if you could wave your magic wand, what would you do to make the world a better place? There’s so much fantastic stuff in there.”
