Organisers of an annual regional press ball are preparing to celebrate its 30th consecutive year.

More than 260 journalists and PR managers will attend the Highlands and Islands Press Ball and Media Awards after tickets sold out in minutes.

Entries are now being sought for the awards, which will be held in Inverness in February.

A dozen categories are up for grabs including Newspaper of the Year, Journalist of the Year and Reporter of the Year.

Chairman John Ross said: “To have an event running continuously for three decades is quite an achievement and we are delighted the Press Ball is still a popular draw.

“It is the only event that brings together our widely dispersed colleagues and, with so many changes in the industry, it is more important than ever.”
