Editor appointed to run hometown local interest magazine

Charlotte RuscoeA new editor has been appointed to run a local interest magazine set up in her hometown by a group of former regional press staff.

As recently reported on HTFP, David Lee-Birch and Tracy Leonard set up Oswestry Life after losing their jobs at Shropshire Review magazine when its parent company Reviewmedia Ltd went into voluntary liquidation.

The pair’s new company DTS Media has now unveiled Charlotte Ruscoe as editor of Oswestry Life, which is set to be published for the first time next month, as well as its sister title It’s Beautiful.

Charlotte, 32, previously provided content for Shropshire Review, where she met David and Tracy. She takes the reins from Eluned Watson, who was editor for two years of Shropshire Review.

Said Charlotte: “I’m delighted to be appointed as editor and look forward to the challenges ahead. I have big shoes to fill following Eluned, but no doubt with the support of the publishing team behind me, we will continue to produce a superior magazine.

“Despite the first issue not being published until March, the initial response and demand for the magazine in the town has been overwhelming.

“As the magazine evolves we will adapt to the demands of our readers and look at new ways of reaching and interacting with our audiences, but integrity and a community focus will be at the heart of everything we do.”

Charlotte, who grew up in Oswestry, has her own freelance PR business and will continue to work with clients alongside her new role.

Seven thousand copies of Oswestry Life will be printed each month and distributed free of charge to homes and businesses in and around the town, while It’s Beautiful will be printed and distributed around Shropshire quarterly.
