Weekly readers to choose special Cup Final front page

Readers are being asked to choose a weekly newspaper’s front page as it marks the final of the world’s oldest football competition.

The Croydon Advertiser is calling on supporters of South London club Crystal Palace to vote for their favourite design, as they prepare to embark on Wembley Stadium for the FA Cup final against Manchester United on Saturday.

All three options, pictured below, were created by designer Alex Leys and can currently be voted for on the Advertiser’s website.

The tie between the two teams is a repeat of the 1990 final, which United won after a replay.

Advertiser editor Andy Worden said: “This is the biggest match that Palace have had since the 1990 Cup final so we wanted to do something a little bit special and different to show our support and Croydon’s support for the team.

“Hopefully, as the fans will have chosen the front page themselves, it will be a souvenir edition of the paper that they will really treasure.”

He added: “Our graphics whiz Alex Leys always does an amazing job of bringing our ideas to life – this time, though, he had to do it three times in one afternoon.

“It does, however, mean that we have our front page ready to go a whole week ahead of deadline.”

Version two is quite amusing and clearly the best.
Why bother to ask, other than being seen to ‘engage’ the readership for the sake of it and get a mention in HTFP as a supposedly fully signed up social media exploiter.
