Stanistreet to stand for second term in union top job

Michelle Stanistreet 1The general secretary of the National Union of Journalists is set to stand for re-election to the role.

An election is set to be held for the position in April following the end of incumbent Michelle Stanistreet’s five-year term.

The full-time post is based at the NUJ’s London head office, working exclusively for the union.

Michelle was elected unopposed in 2011, making her the NUJ’s first ever female leader.

The former Daily Express journalist had previously held the position of deputy general secretary.

Application forms for those wanting to apply for the position may be obtained from [email protected] or head of personnel and administration, National Union of Journalists, Headland House, 308-312 Gray’s Inn Road, London, WC1X 8DP.

The closing date for receipt of completed applications is noon on Tuesday 12 April, with a ballot of union members to be held after.

    The membership must be delighted. Another term led by somebody in complete denial about the state of the industry and only ever reacting when it’s too late. Inspired.
