Regional publisher’s content systems chief takes early retirement

Ray DunnA regional publisher’s editorial systems chief is to take early retirement at the end of next month.

Ray Dunn, pictured left, leader of Trinity Mirror’s group ContentWatch implementation team, will leave the company on 31 August.

Ray, who has been with the company for 38 years, was regional production editor at the Birmingham Post & Mail before taking up his current role six years ago.

He led the introduction of web-based content management system ContentWatch and the CHP images system across the whole of Trinity Mirror in 2013 and 2014.

Said Ray: “It has been a privilege to work with so many brilliantly talented and committed editorial teams across the length and breadth of the country.

“Their unswerving support and professionalism during challenging times of great change, from the days of hot metal right through to today’s digital revolution, has made the past 38 years an absolute pleasure.”

Neil Benson, editorial director of Trinity Mirror Regionals, added: “Ray has been an enormous asset to Trinity Mirror for many years, first as a top-class production journalist and more recently as an editorial systems and business change specialist. We are extremely sorry to see him go.

“His meticulous planning and coolness under pressure are legendary. Ray has had a great career and we wish him all the very best for the future.”

Ray’s successor as GCIT team leader is his deputy, Jason Doyle.

Does this mean someone’s got out of the swamp voluntarily (as opposed to being shoved out on their ear). This one has been very low key, but it is another face with plenty of experience leaving TM, which can not be good for the company.
Have a good rest, Ray. After 38 years at the chalk face you deserve it.
