Regional daily prints ‘Klopp’ special ahead of final showdown

A special preview supplement has been produced by a regional daily ahead of Sunday’s League Cup final.

The Liverpool Echo’s ‘The Klopp Final’ special comes as Liverpool FC prepare to take on Manchester City at Wembley.

The 28-page special has been produced in association with the club’s retail department, and is priced at £1.

The supplement, front cover pictured below, is named for the club’s German manager Jurgen Klopp, who has the chance to earn his first silverware for the club less than five months into the job.

A piece advertising the special on the Echo’s website reads:  “The special pull out has all the best local analysis and opinion ahead of a first cup final under Jurgen Klopp.

“Inside there’s also an interview with Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva as he looks forward to his first appearance at Wembley for Liverpool, having missed out previously through injury.

“Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler tells us that he believes a cup final win could kickstart a red revolution, while Michael Owen talks to Neil Jones about his past league cup successes with the club.”

The Klopp Final?! But for a missed penalty after a brilliant Carlisle performance in a shoot-out in the third round in September, he wouldn’t be anywhere near Wembley. Liverpool’s manager at the time was a certain Brendan Rodgers.

It’s important for professional journalists to be able to distinguish between English and American – “named for the club’s German manager” should read “named after the club’s German manager”.
