Regional daily photographer sees work put on display

A regional daily photographer is having his work displayed at a gallery on his newspaper’s patch.

Nigel Brown, of the Colchester Daily Gazette, has been chosen to display his work at the town’s Firstsite art gallery.

The gallery is holding an ‘Essence of Essex’ exhibition, featuring submissions from both amateur and professional photographers.

Each entrant has been invited to come up with their own interpretation of the exhibition’s theme.

Said Nigel: “I was chuffed to bits when they asked me, I’ve been working in the county for so many years now I like to think I’ve got a grasp on how it ticks and what images capture the essence of the place but to be involved in this exhibition is a real honour.

“There are ten photographic champions in all who have been chosen because of the different areas that we cover and each week one of us gets to pick our favourite of the shots that have been submitted.”

Nigel began his career at the Wilshire and Gloucestershire Standard, moving to Essex in 1986.

Subjects during his career have included Diana, Princess of Wales, and the actor John Hurt.

During his time with the Gazette, he has covered local troops on duty in Bosnia, Kosovo and Northern Ireland.
