Regional daily marks historic football season with glossy magazine

A 100-page glossy magazine has been produced by a regional daily to mark a local football club’s historic first season in England’s top flight.

The Bournemouth Echo has put the souvenir on sale to mark AFC Bournemouth’s inaugural term in the Premier League.

Entitled ‘Premier Days’, the magazine documents every league game with statistics and in-depth interviews with the players and boss Eddie Howe to go alongside the photos documenting the side’s most successful ever league campaign.

Chairman Jeff Mostyn has written exclusively for the magazine, priced at £5.95, giving his own take on his club’s achievement.

Echo deputy editor Neil Meldrum said: “It was a remarkable season, one that many Cherries supporters are probably still trying to compute.

“This publication will stand the test of time and is something supporters will be able to look back on in years to come and tell their children and grandchildren about the day their club took on the Premier League’s finest and beat them.”

Memorable moments of the season included victories over Chelsea and Manchester United at the club’s Dean Court stadium.

Neil added: “It’s been a privilege for the Echo to follow the club’s journey into the Premier League and, although the doubters said the team would never stay up, they proved everyone wrong.”
