Regional daily bids to raise half a million for community groups

A bid to raise half a million pounds for community organisations has been launched by a regional daily.

The Yorkshire Evening Post has unveiled ‘The Leeds Fund’, which calls on readers to help raise £500,000 for groups across the city.

The fund is being launched as part of the #GiveLoveLeeds campaign, run with the Leeds Community Foundation, and will focus on mental health in its inaugural year.

It was announced on Fridays’ YEP front page, pictured below, and has the backing of Leeds-born TV presenter Gabby Logan.

In a message to readers, editor Nicola Furbisher said: “We are delighted as a newspaper to support such a fantastic and worthwhile cause.

“The Leeds Fund will help to support those organisations and groups that help to truly transform the lives of those living in our communities.

“And now we are calling on you to show your support and dig deep to help those who need it the most.

“Our local communities are at the heart of life in Leeds and this is our chance to give something back to them for their tireless efforts.”
