John has won the JM Kilburn Cricket Writer of the Year, which is presented by the Wombwell Cricket Lovers’ Society.

The award, named after the esteemed former Yorkshire Post cricket correspondent, is awarded annually to a UK-based cricket writer.

John, who is an England and Wales Cricket Board-accredited journalist, founded the Cricket Yorkshire site in 2010.

It boasts a readership of more than 10,000, with 7,500 following its social media channels.

Said John: “I’m delighted to win the JM Kilburn Cricket Writer of the Year. It’s an unexpected accolade but a very welcome one.

“Yorkshire cricket is as diverse and fascinating as ever, and the past five years have flown by in celebrating the people who make it the success story it is.”
