Daily to honour Olympic hero with special supplement

jason-kennyA regional daily is to publish a special supplement in tribute to an Olympic hero from its patch.

The Bolton News is to print the tribute to Jason Kenny, who won three cycling golds at this summer’s Rio Games.

His victories in Brazil make Kenny the joint record holder for the highest number of Olympic gold medals won by any British athlete.

To mark his success, the News has launched a new competition for schoolchildren on its patch to draw a picture of Kenny.

The best efforts will be printed in the special supplement due out on 3 November, while two winners will also receive a new bicycle.

The drawings will also be put on display in Bolton Library.

Bolton News group editor Ian Savage said: “Jason Kenny is a true Bolton hero. He is a sporting superstar and the fact he is from Farnworth makes him our sporting superstar.

“This competition is a chance for the young people of Bolton to pay their own tributes to the Farnworth Flyer. I am really looking forward to seeing the pictures.”
