Wembley Stadium the venue for new journalism course

An new NCTJ-accredited journalism course is set to be taught at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The new Diploma in Journalism has been announced by UCFB, the world’s first higher education institution catering for the football, sport and events industries.

UCFB has a campus within the famous stadium, pictured below, and the 20-week course will begin in September.

The college has recruited NCTJ board director and trustee Roz McKenzie, who has taught at Lambeth College since 2005, to lead the course.

Said Roz: “This is an exciting opportunity for students to learn the skills needed to become a modern, world class reporter in surroundings that promote excellence.

“I am delighted to be taking up this opportunity to train reporters with the passion and drive to succeed in the greatest job in the world.”

Neil Silver, UCFB’s head of Media and journalism, added: “This is an exciting addition to our portfolio of programmes, and we are delighted to have recruited someone as respected within the training industry as Roz.”

The course will have a strong focus on digital and social media with all students expected to master using their mobile phones to film and edit news reports.

Optional modules on the course include broadcast journalism, sports journalism and production journalism, alongside core modules including shorthand and media law.
