‘Indestructible’ regional daily set to feature in Hollywood blockbuster

An “indestructible” copy of a regional daily could feature in Steven Spielberg’s next Hollywood blockbuster.

A copy of the Coventry Telegraph has been spotted in a burned out car, below, during the filming of Ready Player One, which is currently being shot in Birmingham.

Despite the car being burned out, the copy of the Telegraph appears remarkably intact.

The sci-fi adventure, slated for release in March 2018, is set to star Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Mark Rylance and Simon Pegg, among others.

A report on the Telegraph’s website reads: “Steven Spielberg is currently shooting his next blockbuster movie in Birmingham – but the legendary filmmaker discovered even he cannot destruct the Coventry Telegraph.

“The past few days has seen the streets of the Jewellery Quarter transformed into a US city as part of the filming. Those looking forward to seeing the West Midlands-shot sci-fi thriller should keep their eyes peeled during the final cut, though.

“After all, as the above pictures show, you may spot a copy of the Coventry Telegraph. One of our newspapers from this week was spotted in a burned out car as the scenes were shot in Brum.

“And if the man behind Jaws, Indiana Jones and E.T. can’t destroy us, who can?”
