Online publisher expands with launch of two new websites

An independent online publisher has expanded its operation with the launch of two new websites.

SoPublishing, which currently runs two websites in Gloucestershire, has set up a pair of online titles to cover Bristol.

SoBristol will offer arts and entertainment news, guides and reviews, while SoBristolWeddings is described as the city’s first online wedding magazine.

The former will feature sections on food, culture, theatre, music, children & family and shopping, while the latter will include sections on venues, bridalwear & jewellery, photography, hair & beauty and honeymoons.

SoPublishing’s award-winning Cheltenham-based website SoGlos.com relaunched in November with a new responsive website, having launched a wedding site for the county earlier in 2015.

The company was launched in 2007 by journalists Michelle Fyrne and James Fyrne, and the pair believe the two new ventures will be “filling a gap” in Bristol’s media landscape.

Said James: “As digital media has grown at an exponential rate over the last decade, SoPublishing has set the agenda in the regions, providing its readers and advertisers with innovative platforms which are unrivalled – even by established print and radio competitors run by the UK’s largest publishing houses.”

The company’s team includes James, who serves as group publisher, and Michelle, who is group editor, in addition to three full-time editorial hub staff and three full-time advertising hub staff.

Last month The Voice, a series of hyperlocal monthly newspapers in the Bristol area, revealed plans to open its 11th edition in the city.

What great news. I’ve used Soglos as a bible for the Cotswolds for more than six years, and have always wondered why there wasn’t a Bristol one. Good luck!
