Head of content switches to business role

MarkCasciThe head of content at the Yorkshire Post is moving to a new role after three years to become the flagship title’s new business editor.

Mark Casci, left, was confirmed in the position in an announcement issued to staff yesterday by YP editor James Mitchinson.

Mark, 35, joined the YP eight years ago as its agricultural correspondent, having previously held the post of business editor at the Telegraph & Argus, Bradford.

He is also a former news editor of York daily The Press.

Said James: “Since taking up the Head of Content position in 2013 Mark has been instrumental in devising new ways of working across myriad titles, being fortunate enough to lead a team of multiple award-winning journalists who have brought international acclaim to The Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post during his tenure.

“I know you will all join me in congratulating Mark on his appointment, and will offer him your fullest support as he goes about making what is one the most revered business desk chairs in journalism his own.”

Outside journalism, Mark ran the London Marathon in 2012 in aid of St George’s Crypt, a homeless charity in Leeds.

The role of head of content, Yorkshire Newspapers, will be advertised across parent company Johnston Press.

    Why do newspapers use the title “head of content” – what’s wrong with the “old=fashioned” news editor title.
