Friday Funnies: Weekly’s headline is racing certainty

PenarthfunnyIt’s doubtless good news when a competitor from your local area gets to take part in the world’s greatest steeplechase.

But we can’t help feeling there is an element of ‘dog bites man’ about this week’s front page headline in the Penarth Times.

To be fair, I have known of horses which didn’t run (in) the Grand National. Local reference at start of headline and everyone’s happy.

Let’s get this right? This their splash? A non-runner for me. But good luck to the horse in charge of the Grand National.

Absolutely terrible – a joke. Who’d pay 55p for that? I know people have bills to pay for but what’s the point in going to work to produce that?

Very low grade lead in what is a newsy area. Surely there’s something worth leading on?

That’s what you get when the Newport subbing hub are holding the reins…

Great variation in the strap as well: ‘big racing event’.

And what’s with the advert below? ‘Sell your home for only £999′. Mine’s worth way more than that.

Having checked the list of people who had been in the story, it seems after the sub completed it a highly experienced member in the Argus/Penarth/Barry office also checked the story out afterwards. They either changed the headline to what you see, or they were happy with it.
