Former sales chief rejoins regional publisher as director

sean-duffyA regional publisher’s former sales chief has returned to the company as a director.

Sean Duffy, left, has been appointed by Newsquest as a commercial director, along with Jason Gill.

Sean previously led the sales team at Newsquest’s Glasgow-based Herald & Times Group.

Since then he has worked in senior commercial and change management roles for First Rail and National Express, and has also been Commercial Director for STV and Head of Marketing for News UK in Scotland.

Jason worked initially with Sheffield Newspapers and then with EMAP and Global Radio. Most recently he was Head of Sales for Pirate FM in Cornwall.

Henry Faure Walker, Newsquest chief executive, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Jason and Sean to Newsquest.

“They have a wealth of experience in commercial leadership roles and will play important roles in our ongoing transition to a multi-media business, and in particular the sale of our powerful digital audience to local advertisers.”

  • Callum Jones has left the Northampton Chronicle & Echo, where he was crime reporter, to join the Metropolitan Police and a media and communications officer.
  • Tanya Yilmaz has left her role as a senior reporter at the Wiltshire Times to join the Swindon Advertiser in the same role.
  • The Epping Forest Guardian has promoted Joseph Flaig to the role of senior reporter.
  • Bristol Post social media editor Sophie Prideaux has taken on a new role as lifestyle editor.
  • Matt Mohan-Hickson has been appointed as a reporter at the Hertfordshire Mercury.
  • Surrey Mirror content editor Chris Madden has left the paper to join Frontier magazine as business editor.
  • Isaac Ashe, previously a reporter with the Hinckley Times, has joined the Nottingham Post as a live news blogger.
