Pictures of couples on a regional daily’s ‘love sofa’ are set to run in the newspaper to mark Valentine’s Day.

The Citizen, Gloucester, planted the sofa at the city’s Eastgate shopping centre and encouraged people to have their photographs taken for a special Valentine’s-themed supplement.

The supplement is due to run in tomorrow’s paper and is aimed at being a “lasting memento” for those photographed on it.

Photographs were taken last Saturday, with families and groups of friends posing on the sofa as well as couples.

Citizen editor Jenny Eastwood said: “We have decided to bring some Valentine’s Day cheer to Gloucester with our Love Sofa and we can’t wait to see the pictures of the happy couples.

“Thank you to Gloucester Furniture for loaning us the sofa from their Southgate Street store for the occasion and thanks to the Eastgate for hosting the event.”
