Businesses bid to receive free local press adverts in UK competition

Deborah MeadenBusinesses from across the UK are being given the chance to win a year’s free advertising in their local newspaper as part of a national competition.

Eleven Businesses nominated by regional newspapers across the country have been shortlisted for Local Business Accelerators – the industry-wide campaign to highlight the power of local press advertising for local businesses.

The nominees have been whittled down by a panel of judges, chaired by Dragons’ Den star Deborah Meaden, after newspapers across the UK were invited to put forward a business on their patch to win the prize.

It will be put to a public vote until the end of the month.

The winner will claim a prize package which includes business mentoring from Deborah, above left, and free advertising in their local paper, as well as £1,000 worth of business advice from an ICAEW chartered accountant and free entry to three CBI events for small businesses.

The competition is organised by Local Media Works, the marketing body for the local press industry.

South West – Blue Bee Solutions, Salisbury Journal

Wales – Dioni, Daily Post

West Midlands – Natural Dogs Direct, Burton Mail
