Welsh daily to publish Sunday edition for ‘momentous’ sporting day

A Welsh regional daily is set to publish a Sunday edition for the first time to mark a “momentous” day for the nation’s rugby and football clubs.

The North Wales Daily Post will publish the special edition this Sunday following crucial matches on Saturday for the Welsh football and rugby teams.

In the Rugby World Cup, Wales will face Australia, while the Welsh football team play their match against Bosnia & Herzegovina in the Euro 2016 Group B qualifier.

As well as the Sunday edition, the Daily Post will also be covering both matches with live blogs.

Daily Post Sunday edition

In a story about the special edition, deputy editor Andy Gilpin said: “It will be a momentous day for Wales in the Rugby World Cup, while our football team stand on the brink of history.

“To commemorate this momentous day in sport, the Daily Post is publishing a special edition on Sunday, October 11.

“We’ll be cheering on Sam Warburton, Gareth Bale and the boys as they take on Australia and Bosnia & Herzegovina.”

The Sunday edition will be 48-pages and will mainly focus on the football and rugby games but with some news and features pages.

The Trinity Mirror title is also encouraging people to show their support for the teams by adding a Welsh dragon to their Facebook and Twitter profiles using their “Ddraig Goch generator”.

Sunday Post test run anon? Thoughts on what that would mean for the weekday editions?

Wales lose both games – and thought I would look at the coverage following this thread.

The Daily Post’s local live updates on their home page clocked off at 8:47pm well before the end of the football match.

It appears the ‘Live Blog’ for the football that was embedded was being run from Cardiff.

Welsh Regional? North Wales Daily Post?

    Cardiff.

That is like London covering Cardiff, or Birmingham covering London distance wise.
