Weekly marks Glasto anniversary with special supplement

A special supplement marking the 45th anniversary of the world’s biggest greenfield music festival has been produced by a weekly newspaper.

Staff at the Central Somerset Gazette have marked the Glastonbury Festival’s milestone with a 96-page publication, front cover pictured below, which is on sale ahead of the 2015 installment of the musical celebration this coming weekend.

The supplement features articles on the festival’s history, exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews with the festival’s unsung heroes, a gallery of photographs, an inside look at how the festival works and the charities it helps.

The Wells-based Gazette serves the town of Glastonbury and the special edition is available at shops in the region, priced at £1.50.

Glasto

Editor Bede MacGowan said: “I must pay tribute to the efforts of Laura Linham who was responsible for sourcing content and Ken Edmonds who put the thing together, as well as Sian David for her fab front page design.

“The Glastonbury Festival team love it, and as one caller told us, ‘This is our finest hour’, so we are chuffed to bits.”

This year’s festival will be headlined by The Who, Kanye West and Florence and the Machine.

The supplement can be ordered by visiting glastonbury45.co.uk or ringing 0333 7778 004.

The total cost including postage is £3.

What a cracking supplement this is. It could have done with a 12 page picture special on The Stranglers’ triumphant show there in 2010 but that apart it is quite brilliant! Well done everyone at the Mid Somerset Series from a very satisfied customer…

Well done to all involved on an excellent publication! It must have been a massive job, for already busy journos’, but I really enjoyed looking through my copy. It deserves to be republished as a book.
