Sister dailies launch contest to design rugby player’s boots

Rob CookA competition to design a professional rugby player’s boots has been launched by two sister dailies.

The Gloucestershire Echo and The Citizen, Gloucester, have combined for the contest, aimed at young readers.

Entry forms printed in both papers feature the outlines of two boots, which are to be coloured in and submitted for entry.

The winning design will be worn by Gloucester RFC full back Rob Cook, pictured above left, in Gloucester’s Premiership match against Worcester on Saturday 31 October

The competition is being run in association with both the club and its kit sponsor XBlades, which will produce the boots.

Once the competition closes on Wednesday, a shortlist of 10 will be revealed. The winning design will then be picked via an online poll on the titles’ websites.

Jenny Eastwood, Citizen editor, said: “The Citizen and Echo are delighted to be working with Gloucester Rugby and XBlades on this amazing competition.

“It truly is an incredible prize for one young fan. We can’t wait to see all the different entries which come in.”
