Regional daily moves to new riverside offices at ‘heart’ of patch

A regional daily has moved to new riverside offices at the “heart” of its patch after 118 years at its previous home.

The Grimsby Telegraph has transferred its operation to a “more modern” base at Heritage House, Fisherman’s Wharf.

The new offices, next to the town’s Fishing Heritage Centre, are less than a mile from the Telegraph’s previous Cleethorpe Road home, where it had been produced since 1897.

Staff will be based on the first floor of the building, pictured below, which sits close to the River Freshney.

To coincide with the move, a 12-page pull-out on the history of the Telegraph featured in last Thursday’s edition.

The Telegraph’s free monthly sister title the Grimsby Target, which was revived in August after being withdrawn in 2007, will also be produced at the new site.

In a story announcing the move, the paper said the new headquarters will be easier to access for readers.

Editor Michelle Lalor said: “This move marks a momentous occasion in the long history of the Grimsby Telegraph in North East Lincolnshire and it is very exciting.

“We remain the only regional daily title in Lincolnshire and one of the most successful in the country, with an equally successful website.

“Over the years our needs have changed, as have the requirements of all such newspaper titles in the UK, and that is one of the reasons we have taken the decision to move to modern, new offices.

“We will continue to combine our print and digital offering to give our readers and viewers an unrivalled service.

“We look forward to welcoming you to Heritage House.”
