Regional publishing group boss becomes PA board member

The chairman of a regional publishing group has been appointed as a non-executive director at the PA Group.

Geraldine Allinson from the KM Group, pictured left, has been chosen for the role at the parent company of the Press Association, which takes immediate effect.

Along with being chairman of the KM Group, she is a a past President of the Newspaper Society and a member of The Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspapers Makers.

She is also a Kent Ambassador, which sees her working with not-for-profit organisations dealing with history, the arts and education, as well as being on the Kent fundraising board for the Kent, Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance.

Clive Marshall, Chief Executive of PA, said: “We are delighted to welcome Geraldine Allinson to the PA Group board. As chairman of a business with operations across print, audio, video and local TV, she brings a wealth of experience and will be a major asset to PA.”

Geraldine Allinson added: “It is a great honour to sit on the board of PA Group.

“I am conscious of the immense challenges facing the industry and I look forward to working with the team to continue PA’s transformation to become the UK’s leading provider of multimedia content and services.”

The KM Group operates a series of weekly newspapers, including the Kent Messenger, a radio station and websites.

    In aiming to become the UK’s leading provider of multimedia content and services, let’s hope that jobs will remain in the UK and not, as previously, be outsourced to PA’s partners in India.
