Industry body appoints two new legal advisors

Two new legal, policy and regulatory affairs (LRPA) advisors have been appointed by the News Media Association.

Lucy Gill and Kerry Nicholson  began their roles last week and will work across the whole range of NMA lobbying issues including press freedom and topics such as copyright and media ownership.

Lucy is a former senior parliamentary researcher to the previous shadow attorney general Emily Thornberry, as well as having worked in the media monitoring units of the Labour Party, UK Civil Service and the BBC.

She began her career in financial journalism, after reading history at Peterhouse, Cambridge University, and the post-graduate Diploma in law.

Kerry read law at Pembroke College, Cambridge, followed by the Bar Professional Training Course.

She has worked for PR agency Freuds and also previously served an internship with the Texas Defender Service, working with defence lawyers on capital punishment cases.
