Jeremy Corbyn to address regional political journalists’ annual lunch

Corbyn 1Jeremy Corbyn is set to be the guest speaker at an annual lunch for regional political journalists.

The Labour leader, pictured left, will address the Newspaper Conference, which is made up of Westminster-based members of the regional press, next month.

The lunch will be chaired by Archant group political editor Annabelle Dickson and is set to be Mr Corbyn’s first address to the lobby in Westminster since being elected leader of the party.

Prior to his election by Labour members, Mr Corbyn thanked Scottish daily the Daily Record after it came out in support of his leadership bid on its front page.

At his party’s conference in Brighton in September, Labour’s interim director of communications Kevin Slocombe told The Argus, Brighton, Mr Corbyn “loves the local press”.

However, at the same conference Mr Corbyn pulled out of an interview with journalists from several regional dailies at short notice.
