It was a bad week for the fictional regional press as Coronation Street’s Weatherfield Gazette featured a howler of a spelling error on its front page coupled with a peculiar piece of story-placement on the back.

Commenting on his blog, former Northern Echo editor Peter Sands wrote: “Apart from the typo on the splash headline, the tracking is outrageous. And why, you might ask, is a local Manchester weekly leading its back page on the Scottish FA Cup fifth round? Shame.”
