Entries welcomed for 2016 Wales Media Awards

Huw EdwardsEntries are being welcomed for this year’s Wales Media Awards following their successful relaunch in 2015.

The awards, which were revived last year by the Journalists’ Charity after a break of several years, aim to highlight the best of Welsh journalism.

The 2016 edition of the event has now been launched with events held concurrently in Cardiff and Wrexham.

They are open to print, broadcast and online journalists, photographers and camera operators working across Wales in news, business, features, politics and sport, plus there are categories recognising community and student journalism.

Awards will also be made by the judges for Journalist of the Year and for Outstanding Contribution to Journalism.

The winners will be revealed at a black tie event at the Holland House Hotel, in Cardiff, on March 4, to be hosted for the second year running by the BBC’s Huw Edwards, pictured left.

Eligible work is anything published or broadcast between 1 October 2014 and 30 September 2015, or 1 March 2014 and 31 July 2015 for students.

Entries should be made online here before 5pm on Monday 9 November 2015.
