Editor marks 25 years with regional newspaper group

A weekly editor has celebrated 25 years of service with the same newspaper group.

Chris Carter, who has edited the Ilford Recorder for the past 19 years, marked the milestone with a card and gift from regional publisher Archant.

Before he took up the editorship he had served as the Recorder’s deputy editor, and served as chief sub-editor before that.

During his time with Archant he also relaunched and edited the Kent quarterfold titles in 2012 and has held the position of executive editor of the Romford Recorder since Mark Sweetingham departed that role in a 2013 structural shake-up.

Archant’s London editorial director, Laura Adams, said: “Chris is a long-standing and respected editor who is embedded in key London communities and has been at the forefront of some major developments during his time with Archant.

“Twenty-five years of service is a fantastic achievement and reflects Chris’s commitment and passion for the role and the newspaper publishing industry in general.”

The anniversary presentation was made at the Recorder’s office by Archant’s London & Kent publishing director Tony Little.
