East of England media awards shortlist unveiled

The contenders for the EDF Energy East of England Media Awards 2014 have been revealed with the Eastern Daily Press leading the way in the race for prizes.

The Archant Norfolk title figures strongly in the shortlist with nominations for the website, community campaign, front page and daily newspaper of the year awards as well as four individual awards.

Local World title the Essex Chronicle also features highly with four of the six nominees for newcomer of the year currently working for the paper.

Held in association with Hold the Front Page, the awards are now in their 10th year and aim to recognise the best in journalism across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

Judging this year’s entries were Ian Murray, editor of the Southern Daily Echo, Mark Waldron, editor of The News, Portsmouth, Christine Alsford, senior correspondent at ITV Meridian, Paul Linford, editor of HoldtheFrontPage.co.uk, Chris Britcher, editor of Kent on Sunday, Keith Redbourn, editor of the Hampshire Chronicle, Andy Steggall of Pergall Media and BBC South, Matt Graveling, BBC Radio Surrey reporter and Paul Collins, picture editor at the Southern Daily Echo.

All those shortlisted will be invited to an awards ceremony, to be held on Thursday February 26.
