Calls for entries to farming journalism award

Entries are now being welcomed for the British Guild of Agricultural Journalists’ Stuart Seaton Award.

The  award celebrates high quality coverage of farming and rural affairs by regional newspapers.

Last year the award was given posthumously to the Aberdeen-based Press and Journal’s farming editor Joe Watson, who died in March, for the newspaper’s coverage of agriculture and its weekly farming supplement.

Two other regional titles, Farm North East and The Cumberland News, were highly commended by the judges.

The closing date for submissions is Friday 27 February.

More information about the award and an entry form can be found on the Guild’s website.

Strange that farming coverage in rural weeklies is usually either pathetic or non existent. My weekly once had a whole page. Now nothing. Just lots of old photos!!!!
