A weekly newspaper has made the move back into the town centre just yards away from its original home.
Employees at the Staffordshire Newsletter have moved from the old Publishing Centre on Derby Street to The Mills on Mill Bank in Stafford.
The new Mill Bank premises, opposite The Post House and close to the Newsletter’s original home on Mill Street, brings the Local World newspaper back to Stafford town centre.
The office move took place last Thursday and follows the relocation of its sister paper, The Stoke Sentinel, to Hanley in September last year.
It is the latest Local World newspaper to move offices after two regional dailies, the Western Morning News and sister title The Herald, moved to a new base in Plymouth city centre last June.
It would be churlish to comment on the closure of newspaper offices in town centres elsewhere and not recognise what appears to be a commitment to staying in the heart of a community.
If Local World was looking for a strapline how about ‘Life is Local’?
