TV station brings new boost for jobs

Six journalist jobs will make up a 16-strong workforce at a new local TV station, opening in the autumn.

Most of the staff at Made in Leeds will begin on Monday – ahead of the Chapeltown studios’ launch, latest plans reveal.

Programming and sales staff will see a team ready for two half-hour evening bulletins.

Broadcaster Made TV, who won the local TV licence rights for Leeds, Bristol, Cardiff, Middlesbrough and Newcastle, is also hoping to get back in the running to bid for City TV in Birmingham – after the previous holders dropped out.

Made beat four other rivals to the Leeds operation, which will eventually serve close to one million homes and compete with ITV on evening bulletins.
