Trio of appointments announced at Scottish daily

Glasgow-based daily The Evening Times has made a series of appointments to its news team.

Peter Swindon has joined the paper as group investigations reporter from a similar role at Dundee daily The Courier.

He takes over from David Leask, who has been promoted to the role of chief reporter at the Evening Times’ sister title, The Herald.

Janice Burns joins the Evening Times from the Daily Record as chief reporter, while general reporter Rebecca Gray has been appointed crime reporter.

Other recent job moves in the regional press include the following:

  • Dominic Shaw has left the Hartlepool Mail after four years with the paper. Dominic has joined the Teesside Evening Gazette as an online sports reporter and will be mostly reporting on Middlesbrough FC.
  • Lucy Clarke-Billings is leaving her role as reporter at the Kent & Sussex Courier to join the Ferrari Press Agency.
  • Worksop Guardian senior reporter Hayley Gallimore has left the title. Hayley also worked for the Gainsborough Standard, Dinnington Guardian and Retford Trader Guardian.
  • Blackpool Gazette entertainment writer Steve Canavan has left his role after 12 years at the title to join BBC Sport.
  • Sarah Vesty has joined the Daily Record as a reporter having previously worked at the Deadline news agency in Edinburgh.
